By Plane: The closest commercial airport is Long Island, Macarthur Airport (isp), in Islip, New York. Southwest is the most affordable airline that flies there. It is a 1.5 hour drive from there to Amagansett (without summer traffic.) JFK & LaGuardia airports are 2 hours from the Hamptons.

By Train: From NYC you can take the LIRR from Penn Station to Amagansett. The Ocean Colony is a 10-minute cab ride from there.

By Bus: From NYC you can take the Hampton Jitney from various streets in Manhattan to Amagansett.

By Ferry/Car: If you're coming from New England, you can drive & ferry to the Hamptons. The Cross Sound Ferry has daily service from New London to Orient Point. From Orient Point, you will drive to Greenport, where you take the North Ferry and then drive through Shelter Island to the South Ferry which brings you to Sag Harbor (our favorite town in the area), where you can drive the rest of the way. The ferry websites have directions. If you plan to take the ferry, let us know & we will get you directions from there to the Ocean Colony. It's a beautiful drive & ride - on a nice day, you get to see vineyards, farm country, and Shelter Island is very special if you have time to explore. This is the route Rachel took to get to and from college.

It is necessary to have a car if you plan on doing anything on your own in the Hamptons - it's the only way to get around. The towns are very spread out and you will be happy to have a car if you want to see or do anything beyond our wedding activities.

We encourage you to coordinate travel with each other & share rides if you can. If you fly into any of the airports, you can rent cars there. If you take the Hampton Jitney bus from NYC to Southampton, there is an Enterprise Car Rental at the Jitney stop. There is also a Hertz car rental at the East Hampton private airport. It is considerably cheaper to rent a car at Islip airport & in the Hamptons than it is at the NYC airports. If you stay at the Ocean Colony, you will not need a car for any of the wedding events - the bonfire & ceremony are onsite and we will bus all guests to and from the wedding reception in Water Mill.

We have reserved the entire Ocean Colony property in Amagansett, NY for our out-of-town wedding guests. Their accommodations are ocean-front condo apartments, literally steps from the beach where we will have our bonfire and wedding ceremony. It will be great to have a home base for the entire weekend where everyone can get to know each other. ?It's a beautiful spot - steps from the ocean, with a pool, tennis court, and it's walking distance to 2 classic, casual seafood restaurants. They have given us the following discount: Friday night we will be charged a weekday rate (2-night minimum.) They have a range of accommodations - from studio apartments up to a 3-bedroom cottage and all units have kitchens and pull-out couches.
